Positive Progression Betting System and Roulette
As you know, Roulette is a game of pure chance. There is not much you can do to affect the outcome of a round or get an advantage over the casino. What you can do is play low-risk, even-money bets that have the lowest house edge. Some believe that applying certain betting systems can help them beat the game. We have already discussed negative progression betting systems and Roulette and now we want to talk about positive betting systems you can use when playing this table game.
What Is Positive Progression Betting System?
You may already be familiar with the concept behind progressive betting. It is based on the principle of increasing your bet depending on your performance. One can easily get that negative progression refers to increasing your bets while losing. On the other hand, positive progression betting systems are based on increasing your bets when winning. Since these systems are mainly used on even-money bets, Roulette is one of the casino games you can apply them to.
When you use positive progression betting systems, you gradually increase your bets as long as you win. Players use both types of betting systems believing they will help them recover losses made in the process.
Most Popular Positive Progression Betting Systems
There are several positive progression betting systems to choose from. Although they are based on the same principle, these systems are different in the way they work. If you want to learn more about some of the most popular progressive betting systems you can apply to the game of Roulette, stay with us.
Paroli
Paroli is by far the most popular positive progression betting system. At the same time, it is one of the most popular betting systems of all, along with Martingale and Labouchere. Its popularity owes to the simplicity of its rules. The principle it is based on is simple – you have to set up your stake and use it as an initial bet. Whenever you win, you increase your wager by the amount of your initial stake. In case you lose, return to your base bet.
Here is a simulation of the Paroli system applied to Roulette bets:
- You wager $10 on Black, Black wins. You increase your next wager to $20.
- You bet $20 on Red, Red loses. You return to a $10 wager.
That’s basically it. In case you are on a winning streak and you win in five rounds, you can end up with a total of $150. Over the five rounds, you will stake $10, $20, $30, $40 and $50 per round and win $20, $40, $60, $80 and $100. Since you have wagered a total of $150 and won a total of $300, you have netted a $150 win. If you had played flat bets of the same value of $10, you would have won $100 and had net winnings of $50.
Reverse Labouchere
We have introduced the negative progression Labouchere system to you and now we want to tell you more about its positive version. Called Reverse Labouchere, the system is based on a sequence of numbers such as 1-2-3-4. We have chosen this sequence as it is the simplest one to show you how the system works. Once you have set up the sequence, use the first and the last number to calculate your initial wager. In this case, it will be $5 ($1+$4). If you win, you add this amount to the end of the sequence, so it goes like this: 1-2-3-4-5. In case you lose, remove 1 and 4 from the sequence. Your next wager is $2+$3=$5. Again, if you win, you add 5 to the sequence. If you lose, you remove 2 and 3 and start with the original sequence again.
Basically, every bet you place is the sum of the first and the last number in the sequence. Whenever you win you add the amount you have staked to the end of the sequence and when you lose, you remove the first and the last number from the sequence. When you remove all the numbers, you start with the original sequence all over again. This system is more complex than Paroli, but if you are on a winning streak, you can win big applying it. It allows you to set a sequence without any restrictions, yet you should stick to your bankroll and avoid risking too much. If you choose a longer sequence, it will last longer, especially if you manage to win and add more numbers to it.
1-3-2-6
This is another positive progression betting system revolving around a sequence of numbers. It is relatively simple as according to it, you apply the sequence of numbers to the bet you choose. For instance, if you wager $10 and win, you place another bet of the same value ($10). In case you win again, your next wager should be 3x$10=$30. The same applies to the next two bets that should be multiplied by 2 and 6. Once you finish the sequence, you start from a one-unit stake again. In case you lose, you start with the sequence all over.
Closing Thoughts
Positive progression betting systems may seem attractive at first. They are based on winning streaks, meaning that you won’t increase your wagers when losing. What you should keep in mind is that none of the progressive betting systems can increase your winning chances. The truth is that if you win, you can win bigger amounts by risking more and recover your loses from the unsuccessful rounds.
If you want to apply any of these systems, you should set aside an amount you are ready to risk. Stick to it and do not exceed it under any circumstance. You should also set your win and loss limits and once you reach them, stop playing the game. We will repeat is once again – no matter whether you play land-based or online Roulette, there is no reliable method to lower the house edge.
